1. WHEN A ROLLER IS
RECEIVED, IT IS FIRST ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM.
2. THE JOURNALS OR
SHAFTS ARE CHECKED FOR WEAR AND IF NEEDED THE
JOURNALS ARE BUILT UP AND THEN MACHINED TO THE
SPECIFIED SIZE.
3. THE ROLLER IS THEN
MOUNTED INTO A LATHE AND THE OLD RUBBER OR URETHANE
IS THEN STRIPED OFF OF THE CORE.
4. THE ROLLER CORE
IS THEN CLEANED TO THE BEAR METAL AND PREPARED
TO RECEIVE THE APPROPRIATE BONDING ADHESIVE.
5. A PRIMER
IS FIRST APPLIED AND....
...THEN A TOP COAT
OF THE PROPER ADHESIVE IS APPLIED OVER THE PRIMER.
6. AFTER ALLOWING
AMPLE TIME FOR THE PRIMER AND ADHESIVE TO DRY,
THE UNCURED RUBBER IS WRAPPED AROUND THE CORE
UNTIL IT IS APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF INCH LARGER
THAN THE FINISHED DIAMETER.
7. ONCE THE UNCURED
RUBBER IS APPLIED,A HEAT SENSITIVE POLY- ESTER
SHRINK TAPE IS THEN WRAPPED AROUND THE ROLLER
IN A SPIRAL FASHION BEGINNING IN THE MIDDLE AND
GOING TO EACH END AND RETURNING TO THE MIDDLE.
8. ONCE THESE PROCEDURES
HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED, THE ROLLER IS PLACED IN
AN AUTOCLAVE TO CURE THE RUBBER, AS WELL AS.BOND
THE RUBBER TO THE CORE. INORDER FOR RUBBER TO
CURE, IT REQUIRES BOTH HEAT AND PRESSURE.
9. ONCE THE RUBBER
IS CURED AND THE RUBBER HAS BEEN BONDED TO THE
CORE, IT IS THEN MOUNTED INTO A GRINDING LATHE.
THE ROLLER IS THEN GROUND TO THE PROPER SIZE AND
TRIMMED TO SPECIFICATIONS.
